Marble Springs Jail

Marble Springs elected Paul Granger sheriff in 1877. He remained sheriff until 1918, when he and his wife died of influenza during the epidemic. His wife, Matilda, cared for the inmates of the small jail. The jail had two cells on the main level and an improvised cell in the attic for women1.
