Silence grows unnoticed—
like bindweed, its
unnamed tendrils thicken
over steady flows of years
until it chokes out everything else.

Except the litany
Lizzie could not unbind:

Hope died in winter.
Faith died in summer.
Later, Troubles and Trials were born
after three days of labor.
Patience died unnoticed¹.
