Came with his wife Ingrid1 from Sweden. Pioneered hydroponic techniques to allow him to grow crops in the short, harsh summers of Crystal River Valley and to clear a large profit by selling his crop to miners in Aspen (30 miles away) and the quarry workers in Marble Springs. Held dances in his barn as often as he could.
